What you learn

The Top-up Bachelor's degree in Web Development is the natural top-up for multimedia design and computer science students, who want a stronger professional profile in the technical aspects of web development.

Frontend and backend programming as well as development environments are relatively technical subjects, which means that the student can not only design, but also implement systems. There is an increasing focus on web technologies in the IT area.

The education prepares you for a job working with technologies and development methods used in many different types of advanced web development projects, where the products are deployed to many different platforms and are developed in current web programming languages such as JavaScript or C#.

Internship

The purpose of the internship is to give the student an opportunity to apply his/her skills from the first two semesters by working in a company in a relevant sector on a job-like basis.

The companies are expected to contribute with best practice experience. During the internship, the student has a guidance teacher from his/her programme as well as a contact person in the company.

The student and the guidance teacher together set goals for the student’s prfessional and personal development during the internship period, which will subsequently be normative for organizing the student’s job function.

The internship is concluded with an evaluation meeting in which the student and the guidance teacher evaluates the student’s development from the internship against the initial goals.

You may compare the internship to a full time job with the same demands to working hours, effort, commitment, and flexibility, the student is likely to meet in his/her first job.

Content and structure

The Top-up Bachelor's degree in Web Development is a 1½-year study program offered to graduates from the AP degree in Computer Science or the AP degree in Multimedia Design and Communication.

The program is taught fully in English. You will be part of an international environment and will have the opportunity to meet students from Denmark, other European countries and other parts of the world.

The 3rd semester is a specialisation module, which includes an internship in a company or an organisation in Denmark or abroad. It is important that you take an active part in finding the internship that matches the professional profile you want to acquire. The internship will give you the opportunity to use the qualifications that you have obtained in class and put them into practice. The last semester will also include the final bachelor project.

The final bachelor project concludes the programme. The students choose the topic of their bachelor project in consultation with Cphbusiness and preferably with a company as well. This gives you the opportunity to apply principles in practice. Cphbusiness must approve the project outline.

Admission

Graduates from the AP degrees in Computer Science and Multimedia Design and Communication satisfy the admission requirements for the BA in Web Development. Other IT-related AP degrees will be assessed using criteria from the AP degrees in Computer Science and Multimedia Design and Communication.

Assessment

When assessing applications, the following factors are considered:

Average grade from the qualifying exam
Relevant work experience and education completed after the qualifying exam

All candidates must submit results of an English test, with the required minimum score and under the scope of the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR) B2 Level

TOEFL Internet Based Test (iBT): Minimum score accepted: 83
IELTS Academic Test: Minimum score accepted: 6.5
Cambridge English Advanced (CAE): Minimum score accepted: Grade C
Cambridge English Proficiency (CEP): Minimum score accepted: Grade C1
Cambridge First Certificate (FCE): Minimum score accepted: Grade A
Danish level A or B in English with a weighted average grade of minimum 02 (no rounding up); in 2020 the weighted average grade for English level B must be at least 3,0 (no rounding up).

Exemption from English requirements

Applicants holding AP degrees taught wholly in English from Danish educational institutions are exempt from submitting documentation to prove their competences in English.
