Results from our new employment survey 2019

The number of unemployed alumni is decreasing, and internships are still the fastest way to employment.

23 July 2020

In October 2019 alumni who graduated from Cphbusiness in 2018 and 2019 received the employment survey.

The results from the survey are now in and show that 56% of all alumni on the fulltime educations are employed, 37% continue their studies and 7% are unemployed. In numbers that translates to 667 who are working, 432 who are still studying, and 79 who are looking for a job.

In the following paragraphs we will highlight some of the findings in the survey. In analyzing the results, please take in to account that the response rate is 50%.

When do our alumni find employment?

Of the alumni taking part in the survey and who are employed today, 63% found their job just before or after graduating from their degree programme. I 2017 that number was 60%, so there has been a small increase.

How do our alumni find employment?

35% of the alumni found employment through their internship. Being an intern is hereby an important factor in relations to entering the job market.

Many alumni also find a job through job listings, networking and unsolicited applications. For example 43% of the Laboratory technicians and 38% of the Multimedia designers find their first job through job listings.

With the alumni from the Top-up Bachelor’s degree in International Sales and Marketing a majority find employment through their network, while the Alumni from Marketing Management find their first job through unsolicited applications.

Further studies

Cphbusiness educates for employment, but more students are interested in continuing their studies.

Most of the alumni from the AP degrees who continue studying choose a Top-up Bachelor's degree programme from Cphbusiness. Other alumni study at other institutions, such as RUC, CBS, AAU, SDU and AU, while very few pursue studies abroad.

The survey indicates that the largest number of alumni who continue their studies are from respectively, Marketing Management, Service, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Multimedia Design and Environmental Technician.

More career advice

In the survey we also ask our unemployed alumni what Cphbusiness might possibly do to help them find employment.

Here the alumni answer that they want more events where the students and companies can meet. They also express a need for career counselling during their education and help with describing the skills they learn during their studies.
